Be Careful Working Out In The Heat

Summers are well-known for relaxing, and hanging out with family and friends that you haven’t seen in a while. It’s also a time where people are on “vacation mode” a lot more.

Still, people like to do activities during the summer that technically count as working out.

That’s why it’s so important to stay hydrated and let people know where you’re headed out to. Whenever you’re out hiking or off on an adventure, let someone know where you are headed.

It doesn’t hurt to be extra cautious with yourself.

With that being said, let’s get to the 10 easy fitness ideas for hot summer days.

10 Easy Fitness Ideas For Hot Summer Days

1. Go hiking with friends.

An easy fitness idea is to plan a group hike. Not only will you enjoy the sunshine and summer weather, but you will also check off a fun activity on your summer bucket list! One of the best things about summer is reconnecting with friends and spending extra time with loved ones.

Planning a group hike can be lots of fun.

You can take selfies when you reach your destination and create countless memories together.

2. Go onto the beach and run by the water where it’s cool.

A fun idea is to run alongside the water. Feeling the fresh breeze the ocean provides, may be one of the most refreshing forms of exercise there can be! There’s a reason why everyone heads to the beach during the summer. It’s to enjoy the coolness you get from the water.

3. Swim a few laps at your local YMCA.

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise there is to cool off during the summer, yet still get a good workout in. You can even sign up for a swim class for the summer, to ensure you keep working out despite the heat. You can advance to harder swim classes and work on getting better swimming. Invite a friend to take a class with you to make it more social.

4. Workout indoors and try a youtube video workout.

There are so many good youtube video workouts that are completely free.

And the best part is that you no matter what you want to work on you can type in exactly what you need in the search bar, and always find something. There are all kinds of workouts to choose from: with or without equipment, short or long workouts, floor or standing workouts, etc.

You can easily workout from the comfort of your home the way you choose too.

Working out at home is a great alternative to having to go out in the heat.

5. Go on a bike ride around town.

Bike rides are so peaceful. As long as you are aware of your surroundings, bike riding is one the best forms of exercise out there that allow you to enjoy the beauty of nature. And there are even some places that allow you to rent a bike, if you don’t have one.

Bring your water bottle along and enjoy the day on your bike!

6. Go canoeing.

There’s something just so peaceful about canoeing. It’s all about location.

Make sure you pick somewhere to canoe that you truly enjoy and that is a calm spot. Always go with a buddy and have a way to communicate, in case of emergencies. But most importantly, have fun.

Soak in the location’s sights and wonders. Take your time and get a good workout out there.

7. Go surfing.

It’s hard to say summer and not think of surfing. And if you don’t know how to surf, it’s never too late to start. You can take a surfing lesson this summer and sharpen your surfing skills.

8. Join an indoor or outdoor sports league.

Sports will always be a fun way to get a good workout in. What’s better than joining a sport league this summer? Sometimes, joining a team holds us more accountable than if we were just playing a sport by ourselves. If you want to play outside, you can join an outdoor league. Or you can join an indoor league, especially during the hot summer weather. Try out different sports and see what you like most.

Playing sports will always guarantee you a much needed workout.

Personally I’ve been obsessed with playing badminton.

And let me tell you that I sweat so much more playing badminton than I do when I workout at the gym.

9. Take a fitness class with friends at your local gym.

Working out in a gym is a very healthy way to get your workouts in.

Consider taking a fitness class this summer with your friends. There are always fitness class sign ups at your local gym. Whatever you sign up for, make sure it’s easy and do-able for the summer!

10. Take a dance class or try dance workouts on YouTube.

Another fun way to stay active and burn good calories is by dancing.

You can either take dance classes or try dance workouts on YouTube (alone or with a friend!) I love Pamela Reif’s and Madfit’s dance workouts. They are fun and will definitely make you sweat.

Pro Tip: Make sure you stretch before you dance. Stretching is good for your body and will help you prevent any injuries.
