When the word “summer” comes to mind; I like to picture the beach, tanning, cute summer outfits, you name it. Summer can definitely be the most enjoyable season of the year (probably because of all the many summer activities you can do!) And I’m sure that there are still many summertime activities you are still itching to do. Although summer is the perfect time to go and enjoy the sunny weather, you need to make sure you are penciling in self-care too to recharge your soul. In this post I am sharing 10 refreshing self-care tips for summertimes to help you include self-care in your daily routine this summer season.

Self-care is very important, in every season. 

Pushing self-care off to the side is one of the easiest things in the world to do.

It’s so easy for us to push ourselves to the side in order to get other more “important” things done. There’s laundry to be done, e-mails to be sent, appointments to be scheduled, and tasks to be completed. We think all of these things are more important than giving ourselves a much needed break. Why? Because sometimes we just want to get it done. 

We are all guilty of pushing off self-care until we no longer can.

And that’s not helpful towards our quality of life.

So it doesn’t matter if it’s summer, winter, or any other season, we need to refill our cup once it’s been emptied, all year round. It’s important to put ourselves first. Completing tasks that need to be done is important but it is also important to take a rest when needed. And right now, you need a break. 

Refill your cup as many times as needed. 

Huge to-do lists are composed almost daily worldwide but I can assure you self-care is not being prioritized. And we all need self-care! Not just once a week either. Self-care is as necessary to us as taking care of our physical and mental health is. That’s why I have composed a helpful list of self-care tips I think can really help you this summer. Let’s dive into the 10 self-care tips for summertime. 


10 REFRESHING SELF-CARE TIPS FOR SUMMER TIME


1. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Drinking water may come naturally for some people. But that’s not that case for everyone. If you aren’t someone who drinks water as easily as the rest, another option is liquid IV.

It’s hot during the summertime, so it’s important that you stay hydrated while enjoying the sun. 

Healthy skin is important during summer. 

2. Keep up with your skincare routine with refreshing skin products. 

We all know that we need to keep our skin well hydrated, especially in the summertime.

4. Stick to your morning routine during the summer. 

Don’t hit the snooze button too much this summer! Resting is important, but morning routines were created because they are so helpful to our everyday lives. If you follow a routine, you’re helping yourself out to get things done that are important to your lifestyle. 

Try to keep waking up around the same time; Monday through Friday. This will help you not mess your routine and also stay productive. You can give yourself a break by sleeping in on the weekends! 

Nutrition is important during the summer heat. 

5. Eat refreshing fruits and veggies.

It gets hot during the summer season. Eating refreshing fruits and veggies is ALWAYS a good idea. Go on Pinterest and look up refreshing summer recipes to try that include healthy fruits and vegetables. 

Eating oranges is important for your vitamin C intake. As for veggies, try mixing them in to create a delicious, yet refreshing salad. Don’t forget to add nuts to your salads, like almonds. 

6. Take the time to rest and recharge. 

Resting during summer is so important.

Make sure after a long outdoor hike in the heat, you rest your body and take a nap! As fun as summer can be, nobody likes to get dehydrated or exhausted after being in the heat for so long.

7. Go on vacation! 

One of the best self-care tips out there is to treat yourself out on vacation.

Give yourself a break from the busy demands of life. Take a vacation to somewhere you have always dreamed of visiting but have never gone! Create a list of future vacation ideas that you would like to go to someday. Have the list handy close-by to check it when you have vacation days.

Too often, social media takes over our daily lives and can mentally drain us. Remember to give yourself a break from your most used apps for a week. Set app limits or delete some apps temporarily. This way you can focus on life in front of you, instead of the screen blocking your sight. 

9. Start a summer reading list. 

Use this summer to catch up on your reading list. Find out if your favorite author is releasing any new books. Check your local library and see if any of your favorite authors are there.

List out your summer reading list and check off each book as you finish it.

Reading is so relaxing and helps keep your mind learning. The more you read, the better for you! 

Use this extra time to reflect on yourself. 

10. Journal daily. 

Self care can also be practiced in the form of journaling.

Daily journaling can help you rediscover who you are and help center your busy thoughts that are jumbling around in your mind.

Journaling can be the peace and recharge that you are looking for, if you allow it to be.
