12 Fun Workouts To Do In The Summer To Stay Fit

Yay, summer is finally here! So, now what? Is it time to enjoy our summer bodies and just relax? Or, is it time to use the summer to continue working on our bodies? Whether you’ve been working hard for your summer body, or you’ve completely disregarded workouts these past few months, I’m here to tell you that your muscles don’t go on vacation during the summer! While there are a million of fun things to do during the summer (working out is probably at the end of your list, I know I know), you shouldn’t sleep on your body in any season! So, today I’m calling you out (politely) and challenging you to invest in your body (at no cost) to stay fit all summer long! Don’t have a clue how? No worries! Below, I’m sharing 12 fun workouts you can do this summer to stay fit!

YOUR MUSCLES ARE NOT ON SUMMER VACAY

Now, I know what you’re thinking: why would I want to workout when I can be at the beach relaxing?

Well, like I said above, you may be on vacation mode, but your muscles aren’t! Your muscles are on work mode all year round (even though you may be putting them on “sleep mode” from time to time). 

While taking appropriate rest days is necessary to give your muscles a chance to recover between your workout sessions, abandoning them for a whole season is not! 

LONG BREAKS MAKE EXERCISING HARDER

Have you noticed that when you go weeks without exercising, working out becomes much more laborious than usual? Yep, been there, done that! It’s a pain. Trust me, getting your body back on track again after not working out for awhile is a lot harder than keeping up with your daily workout routine.

Which is why, it’s important to keep up with your workout routine, even in the summer time. 

THE BEST SUMMER INVESTMENT

Now, summer probably sounds like the worst time to workout. It’s insanely hot outside, the thought of sweating makes your head spin in circles, and the list of things you want to do gets longer everyday.

I get it. Working out in the summer seems like the biggest punishment.

But, guess what? It’s not! In fact, working out is one of the BEST ways you can invest in yourself this summer without spending a single dime. 

So, instead of looking at is as a punishment or as something you “have to do” look at working out as an investment. You invest in your body now, you reap the benefits later!

WHY WORKOUT IN THE SUMMER?

Even though you could probably come up with 99 excuses to not workout in the summer, let me give you a few reasons why you should blow off your excuses + say “yes” to summer workouts! 

7 REASONS YOU SHOULD WORKOUT IN THE SUMMER: 

  1. Since the weather is beautiful (major summer girl over here!), you can spice up your workouts by working out in different locations (psssst, here are 7 interesting places you can workout in)! But always remember to stay hydrated, be conscious of the temperature, and stay safe! (:
  2. There’s always more flexibility in the summer time, which means there’s more TIME to devote to your body! Even, if you have 20 extra minutes, 20 minutes everyday can make a difference in your body.
  3. Summer bodies may be made in the winter, but summer bodies are KEPT in the summer. 
  4. Everything is better in the summer. I don’t know about you, but I’m always more inspired and cheerful in the summer. Take advantage of the summer cheer to work on your body. 
  5. Daylight. Do you get off work at 6pm? Well, guess what? It’s still nice and bright to go to the gym, the park, or even to enjoy a good at-home workout!

SUMMER FUN = FUN WORKOUTS

Alright, now that you’re aware why you should invest in your body this summer, let me share with you the easiest way to do so! Even though I treat my summer workouts like I do my workouts all year round, I do like to spice things up in the summer. 

Since summer time means more FUN, it only makes sense to do more cheerful and fun workouts in the summer! 

Therefore, below I have compiled a list of 12 of the most fun workouts you can do this summer. These workouts are not your typical “10 minute ab workout” or “20 minute booty workout”. 

They all have a fun twist to them, so I’m almost 1,000% sure that you will enjoy them!
