15 best blogging resources all bloggers need to have

Are you looking for blogging resources that will help you grow your blog? You’ve come to the right place! When I just started my blogging journey, I opted out from investing in my blog and insisted on only using minimal resources. Not only did I delay my progress by doing this, but I also wasted so much time experimenting and trying to figure things out my own way. It wasn’t until I started investing and equipping myself with the proper blogging equipment (hello blogging resources) that I was able to grow my traffic, monetize my blog, and grow my social media platforms. So, whether you’re a new blogger, or a seasoned blogger who’s feeling stuck, today I’m sharing the 15 best blogging resources you need to have!

15 Best Blogging Resources All Bloggers Need

1. CANVA (Account)

The first blogging resource I want to talk about is the resource I use the most – Canva! I have been using Canva since day 1, but I only upgraded my account to Canva Pro a few months ago and have been absolutely loving having access to all of the fonts, photos, templates, and features in Canva.

Canva is hands down my ride or die when it comes to my business. I use Canva to create:

  • Pins for Pinterest
  • Instagram Stories
  • Banners for my website
  • Instagram posts
  • Graphics for my blog
  • ADS for my digital products and services
  • Email graphics
  • Cover photos
  • Logos
  • Printables
  • Digital Products

And so on! Every single graphic that I have created for either my blog or social media has been created through Canva! So, whether you’re a blogger, content creator, youtuber, or any kind of influencer, I highly recommend that you get on Canva if you haven’t yet! You can definitely sign up for the free version of Canva, but if you intend to treat your blog as a business rather than a hobby, I recommend upgrading your account to Canva pro so that you can get access to all the features in Canva! Although I was pretty late to the google analytics party (I’ve used JetPack since the beginning), I can’t express how helpful it has been to keep track of my blog stats in a a very detailed way. Google analytics helps you keep track of:

  • Active users on your site (in real-time)
  • The pages that are viewed the most on your website
  • The times your users are most active on your website
  • Your audience’s behavior and demographics (users ages, gender, etc)

And so much more!

On top of being up-to-date with my blog traffic, google analytics has helped me figure out what times I should be pinning and what kind of posts I should be creating. So, I definitely suggest connecting your website and taking advantage of the information you can get from google analytics.

If there’s one plugin you must have, it’s this one! Yoast SEO is your bestie when it comes to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). When I just started blogging, I did not take SEO into consideration and ended creating poorly optimized blog posts and missing out on blog traffic. Although Pinterest is currently my highest source of traffic, after researching about SEO and updating all of my blog posts following the Yoast SEO checklist, I went from getting 0 to 10 daily views from search engines, to now getting over 100 daily views from search engines only. So, optimizing your posts is well worth it!

4. GOOGLE DRIVE (Account)

If you’re someone who creates printables (whether they’re freebies or digital products you sell), google drive is a must! When I just started blogging, I would upload all of my printables directly to my website’s media library and this would slow down my site. Luckily, after taking Ell’s Mastering Sales course, I learned that you can upload your files to google drive and just direct people to the files without having to upload them to your website. So, I created a google drive account strictly for blogging and have been uploading all of my printables on there. And now, every time that I create a freebie, I just share the link to the file on my google drive with my audience/subscribers! So, if you create printables to either sell, send to your email list, or to upload to a resource library, I recommend using google drive!

Remember how earlier I said that Pinterest is my #1 source of traffic? Yeah, it’s true and it’s all thanks to this Pinterest course! Ell’s Pinterest course is the very first blogging course I took and it’s the course that changed everything for me. This course helped me learn everything I needed to know about Pinterest marketing: setting up an optimized profile, creating viral pins, scheduling pins strategically, and using Pinterest to sell and promote services. Not only have I been able to grow my Pinterest account and blog traffic, but I’ve been able to monetize my blog thanks to Pinterest. So, if you’re struggling to understand Pinterest or grow your traffic, I suggest this course!

For reference, I had 30k Pinterest monthly viewers and was getting around 40 blog views daily before this course, but after a few months of implementing the strategies I learned in this course, I was able to raise my Pinterest monthly viewers to 1.4 million and blog traffic to 500-600 blog views daily.

I honestly can’t talk enough about how great Ell’s courses are! They’re all packed with information, strategies, and results. After taking Ell’s Pinterest course, I just had to invest in her Mastering Sales course as well. I was already getting decent traffic from Pinterest, but I felt like it was time to dive deeper into affiliate marketing, digital products, clients, and sales. So, I invested in this course to take my blog to the next level.

Mastering Sales with Ell teaches you how to master:

  • Your mindset
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Selling digital products
  • Landing consistent clients

After taking this course, I have been able to successfully generate affiliate sales, create 3 digital products and generate sales for my products, and land clients for my pin creation services (you can check out the services I offer, here!) 10. ADOBE LIGHTROOM (App/Account)

Adobe Lightroom is my go-to software to use for editing photos! I use Adobe Lightroom to edit my Instagram photos or any photo that I take for my blog. I absolutely love that you can easily upload and create presets to use, edit photos, and organize your photos by any criteria you choose! So, if you aren’t using Adobe Lightroom yet, I definitely recommend downloading the app on your phone (it’s free) – trust me, you will thank me later!

11. PREVIEW (App)

The preview app is my #1 favorite Instagram app because it helps you plan and preview your feed before you post on Instagram. After editing my photos on Lightroom, I like to upload my photos to the preview app and play around with the order they’re placed until I like the way my feed looks. Doing this helps me create a more aesthetically pleasing and organized Instagram feed (which is important to have on IG)! So, if you’re a blogger who uses Instagram for your blog, you definitely need to use the preview app!

If you’re not using social media marketing to promote your blog posts and grow your blog, you’re missing out on major traffic and sales! Although you don’t necessarily need to be on every single social media platform to be a successful blogger, you should be on at least 2-3 social media platforms. I currently use 5 because I’m a huuuuuuuuuge fan of social media and I like having my name on multiple platforms. But, you can definitely choose to focus on as many social media platforms as you want to! If you’re struggling with all things social media related, don’t worry.

The Social Media Power is a great blogging resource for anyone who wants to learn how to master social media marketing, generate free traffic, and boost the revenue of their online business! You can check out Denelia’s social media ebook, here! (Affiliate link)

Since I am on 5 different social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, TikTok, and Facebook) and manage three different Instagram accounts for my business, it’s crucial that I stay super organized. Which is why, I absolutely love using the Iconic Social Media Content Planner.

Don’t let your posts die! The Revive Old Posts plugin automatically shares your blog posts on your social media accounts. I use this plugin to share old blog posts every four hours on Twitter, but you can manually adjust how many hours you want between each post! This plugin has helped me save so much time because now I don’t have to schedule tweets to promote blog posts. I only schedule regular tweets and promotional tweets for my products, affiliate links, and my services! So, if you want to save yourself the hassle of promoting your blog posts, I recommend installing this plugin!

The last resource I want to mention on this list is Kayleigh’s Pitching to Brands ebook! If you’re having a hard time pitching to brands, landing collabs, working and maintaining long-lasting relationships with brands, this ebook is for you! Kayleigh has been working on a gifted basis with brands for awhile now and has such much knowledge, tips, and secrets to offer!
