SPENDING TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Now, I know what you’re thinking. How will I make time to be on social media for my blog when I barely have time? I get it, you’re a busy bee. Us bloggers are the busiest of all bees. With so many blogging tasks that we have to tackle and life happening around us, it just seems impossible to find time to tackle social media tasks for bloggers!
Finding the right time to be on social media
Even though it’s hard finding some free time to just go on social media and keep up with our family, friends, and favorite celebrities, we always seem to make time. Of course we usually only mean to spend about five minutes to catch up with out socials. But, that’s never the case, is it?
By the time we finish scrolling and engaging, 40 minutes (or more) have passed. Right?
The point is that we always have time to be on social media.
Using social media wisely
Personally, I love being up to date with everything that’s happening on social media. I love going on social media to post, check up on friends and family, and know what’s happening in the world. However, I strongly dislike wasting valuable time on social media doing something that won’t give me any kind of growth or benefit. So, I try to control my social media time as much as I can. I’ve taken various social media hiatuses in the past to just step away from social media for some time. And trust me, we all need to do this once in a while.
If you’ve never done a social media detox, I highly recommend it. Here are two fun detoxes you can try:
Why social media is not your enemy
Although it’s necessary to take breaks from social media every once in awhile, you shouldn’t completely neglect social media if you’re a blogger. You have to make time to promote your blog posts, engage with your audience, increase your traffic, and network! Social media is your best friend. There I said it! Like I said before, unless you spend time on social media, your posts will go unnoticed. So, if we can’t escape social media, we might as well use it for our own benefit. Social media can be your best friend and ally if you use it to grow and expand your brand. Below I’m going to share easy social media tasks for bloggers that will help you grow your blog and increase your traffic.

INSTAGRAM TASKS
Even though Instagram brings me the least blog traffic, it has helped me sell digital products, find clients to work with, and expand my brand. So, it’s worth talking about. If you don’t like using Instagram for your blog, no problem. But, if you want to build your brand, work with brands, expand your community, and land clients/customers, Instagram is definitely worth being on. Here are some instagram tasks you should do:

1. POST ON YOUR FEED
You should post content on Instagram to:
- Share more about yourself with your audience.
- Promote a blog post.
- Grow your following and link clicks.
- Enhance your feed. I am a sucker for aesthetic feeds!
- Promote a product or service you love.
- Promote services and products you offer.
- Share a personal message or story.
- Engage with your audience.
I have found posting at least 4x a week to be helpful, but you can post more if you’d like.
2. UPLOAD STORIES DAILY
You should upload Instagram stories (daily, if you can) to:
- Share a new blog post. I do this once a week because I post on my blog weekly.
- Remind your audience of older blog posts.
- Keep your audience updated on latest news.
- Ask questions.
- Conduct fun polls.
- Interact with your audience on a more personal level.
- Share snippets of your life.
- Conduct small series.
- Share a motivational quote.
- Open more conversations in dms.
3. RESPOND TO MESSAGES AND MENTIONS
You should always take a few minutes of your day to respond to direct messages and to reply back to the latest comments on your photos.
4. RETURN THE LOVE
Something I love doing is returning love (likes, comments, etc)
Not only is this a good way to reciprocate the love you get, but this also helps increase your engagement. People are more likely to engage with your posts if they know that you will return the love.
5. ENGAGE WITH YOUR TIMELINE
Engage with some of the photos and videos on your timeline.
If there are any photos or videos that catch your attention, spread some love by liking them or leaving thoughtful comments. This is a great way to make new friends and engage with your audience or future audience (if they aren’t following you yet)
6. FOLLOW SIMILAR ACCOUNTS
One of my favorite ways of finding new accounts to follow is by clicking on accounts that I follow/love, checking out the comments on their latest posts, and following accounts that have commented on their posts and are similar to accounts I follow.
TIP: Make sure to always like the latest 6-9 posts of accounts you follow so that you can take some space in their notifications and they can tell that you’re an active Instagram! I share more in-depth Instagram tips in this blog post: 10 best instagram growth hacks for organic growth!
7. NETWORK WITH PEOPLE
You can find the right clients, brands, and customers through mutuals or hashtags.
TWITTER TASKS
I love using Twitter to share my latest blog posts, links to affiliate products, links to my digital products, and promote my services. Here are some Twitter tasks you need to tackle:
8. TWEET DAILY
Keep your account active by tweeting at least three times a day. You should tweet to:
- Give your followers some insight of your life.
- Share the BTS of blogging, sort to speak.
- Ask your audience questions.
- Share tips on topics you’re an expert on.
- Build a connection with your audience.
- Share your latest blog posts.
- Share the links to digital products, services, and affiliate products.
From sharing something personal, to providing inspiration to promoting your latest work, use your tweets to make a name for yourself.
9. SHARE YOUR LINKS
Twitter is one of my favorite places to promote my services, digital products, and affiliate products.
Most of the clients I have landed for my pin creation services has been through Twitter.
You can post your links in real-time, schedule them weekly, or even schedule your links monthly to save you time.
10. RESPOND TO MENTIONS AND MESSAGES
Try to respond to most of your mentions and all of your direct messages.
If someone sends you a thoughtful tweet or asks you a question, don’t leave those mentions unnoticed.
Even though it’s hard to keep up with all mentions, I try my best to respond to all tweets as much as I can (even if a few days late).
11. RETURN THE FAVOR
Again, if someone was kind enough to RT your tweet, promote your work, like your tweet, or leave you a thoughtful comment, try to find a way to return the favor. This is a great way to build friendships and connections.
12. ENGAGE WITH YOUR TIMELINE
Engage with some of the tweets and media on your timeline.
If there are any tweets, photos or videos that catch your attention, let it be known. Be the kind of follower that you would like to have.
13. PARTICIPATE IN THREADS
Look out for blogging and social media threads on Twitter.
Twitter threads are an easy and great way to find new accounts to follow and possibly make new blogging besties. Engage in these threads by sharing your links and your latest content (blog post, youtube video, etc). And as always, don’t forget to return the love!
When you come across threads:
- Follow the rules on the thread.
- Drop your link (s)
- Look through the comments.
- Follow accounts that interest you.
- Like some of the comments.
- Make new friends!
14. FOLLOW THE RIGHT PEOPLE
Grow your following by following new people. But, don’t just follow accounts for the sake of following. Try to follow accounts that are similar to you, inspire you, and have valuable content to offer. Follow accounts you would like to engage with.
PINTEREST TASKS
Last but not least, my favorite and highest source of traffic: Pinterest. If you’re not using Pinterest to grow your traffic, you’re seriously missing out.

15. CREATE CLICK-WORTHY PINS
Since Pinterest prefers fresh pins over repins, you should be creating pins consistently.
You can create fresh pins daily or batch create pins in one sitting!
You can create pins for your:
- Blog posts
- Digital products
- Affiliate links (make sure to mention that they’re affiliate links!)
- Services
- Email list
16. PIN DAILY
There isn’t an ideal number of how many pins you should pin daily, but I would say anywhere between 8-15 is fine.
You can manually pin daily or you can schedule your pins weekly (this is what I do!)
18. OPTIMIZE YOUR ACCOUNT
Make sure that your entire Pinterest profile and account is seo-optimized.
Try to update and add relevant keywords to your name, bio, board descriptions, and pin descriptions.
19. SEARCH TRENDS
Use the trends feature and what’s popular on Pinterest to create relevant pins. If pancakes are trending and you have a pancake recipe blog post, make sure to create pins for that particular post. Or if it’s Christmas time, try to play around with your posts to make them fit the occasion.

FACEBOOK TASKS
Even though this is the social media I use the least, I still want to mention some tasks that have helped me gain a few link clicks.

If you use Facebook for your blog, you can use Facebook to:
- Promote your content on Facebook.
- Share your latest blog post.
- Share photos like you would on your other social media accounts.
- Create a Facebook group for your audience.
- Join Facebook groups and participate in blogging threads.

I love Instagram and Twitter the most, too! I love how you laid out advice on scheduling time for posting, engaging, and growing because all three things are vital to growing social channels / increasing blog traffic. I need to be better about finding new accounts – I tend to be more passive and wait until someone has interacted with me or followed me lol!
Thank you, girl.
Great tips!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I truly have a hard time planning time for social media besides blogging so I’m saving this post to make sure I start scheduling the right way!

Social media platforms are the best place to promote the blog. We all know this almost everyone have the social media accounts. But we never schedule our time, we do post whenever get the time. But I think you are write scheduling a time will work greatly. And I also deactivated my fb account years back. I only use Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter. In my opinion, Instagram is the best place to attract the traffic on the blog.
