25 things to do when you're bored

Bloggers or not, we all get bored. It’s part of life, right? Although I try to keep myself busy most of the time, I am the type of person that gets bored so easily. Believe it or not, even Netflix bores me (3 episodes is enough for me no matter how good the show is!) And when I’m bored, I tend to attract sadness, depressive thoughts and negative feelings. Therefore, it’s crucial for me to always find something to do – even when I don’t want to do anything! I rather be extremely busy than bored. So, whether you can relate with me, are looking for ways to be productive at home or are completely bored out of your mind, here’s a blogger edition list of 25 things you can do when you’re bored.

25 things to do when you're bored bloggers edition

1. READ A BLOG POST

Not only is this a good time to support other bloggers, but it’s also a good time to inspired yourself to write. Honestly, I always get inspired to blog when I read a post that was written with passion.

2. BRAINSTORM BLOG POST IDEAS

Give your brain the chance to dump any and all ideas you may have on to paper.

3. LISTEN TO A PODCAST

Preferably a motivational blogging podcast! I love listening to The Boss Girl Bloggers Podcast.

I always get motivated to blog when I listen to this podcast.

Podcasts can be educational as well as inspirational. A win-win, if you ask me!

4. EDIT OLD BLOG POSTS

Play around with some of your old posts and update them! Add new information, edit your paragraphs, change your feature image (if necessary), update your ads, etc!

5. WRITE A BLOG POST

Cook up a new blog post or even create a new series on your blog.

6. GO ON PINTEREST

The abundance of ideas and inspiration on Pinterest is mind-blowing. Whenever I’m bored, lacking blog post ideas or inspiration, Pinterest is my place to go (psst, click here and let’s be friends on Pinterest!)

7. READ INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES ON PINTEREST

Not only do I love going on Pinterest to promote my blog posts, find inspo/ideas, but I also love going on Pinterest to read uplifting & inspirational quotes.

I even have a inspirational board (click here to check it out!) where I love storing quotes that I find.

8. CREATE BOARDS ON PINTEREST

Pinterest is as fun as you make it out to be!

The more boards you have, the more time you’ll spend pinning, the more monthly views you’ll get on Pinterest, and the more chances you have of making your pins go viral.

So, create bores related to your blog niche(s) and start filling them up.

9. POST A QUOTE ON TWITTER

One of the new things I have started doing on Twitter is posting a daily quote.

It literally takes me about 10 minutes to find a quote I love and tweet it out for everyone to see.

This is one of my favorite ways to keep my account active on Twitter.

10. PLAN YOUR IG FEED

Extra minutes on your hands means you have extra time to plan out your Instagram feed! This is so helpful is you want a cohesive theme. I currently use a free app called preview to plan out my instagram feed. This app is amazing because it lets you add multiple photos, drag them around until you like what your feed looks like and once you’re satisfied, you can manually upload to IG straight from there!

11. SCHEDULE PINS AND TWEETS

Scheduling pins and tweets beforehand (a week or month in advance) helps you get ahead of things, continue to promote your content daily, and remain active on both platforms (even when you’re not physically on there!) I like to make sure I have at least a few tweets and pins go out each day.

So, I use Hootsuite (I have the free version) to schedule tweets for about a month’s worth of content. And I manually schedule pins on Pinterest weekly.

12. LIKE AND COMMENT ON 10 POSTS ON YOUR FEED

Go through your Instagram feed and select 10 posts to like and comment on. This is a great way to motivate yourself to post on your account and to make new friends! Who knows, you’ll probably get likes and comments in return! 🙂

13. RESPOND TO COMMENTS AND MESSAGES

If for whatever reason you didn’t have time before and left your audience on read, now would be the perfect time to respond to all comments. Engaging with your audience shouldn’t be an option, but a priority. It is so important to build a strong relationship with your audience.

14. PARTICIPATE IN TWTTER THREADS

A great way to meet other bloggers, get your work noticed, promote your socials and grow your following is through threads. My favorite RT account on Twitter, who actually retweets your tweets is @BloggingBabesRT

15. PROMOTE YOUR BLOG POSTS

Don’t let your old blog posts be forgotten!

Take a moment to promote some of your older posts on Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

16. TAKE PHOTOS FOR YOUR BLOG + SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS

How’s the lighting today? If so, get your camera or phone out.

You can either gather items to photograph at home, go outside to take photos of cool places you explore, or get dressed up and have a little photoshoot with lots of selfies! 😉

17. POST ON INSTAGRAM

Share that quote, selfie, cool photo, pretty flat lay, or interesting story you have been wanting to share! Cook up a caption to go with your photo and share away!

18. CHECK YOUR EMAILS

Time to empty out your inbox. Open, respond and delete emails!

Your inbox will thank you later.

19. READ A BOOK

Pick up the book you’ve been reading and read the next 15 pages! If you don’t have a book, go to your nearest library and pick up an interesting book to read!

20. JOURNAL

Take your journal out and simply write! Write down what you’re thinking, affirmations, and goals.

Or if you have a bullet journal, create weekly spreads and have fun with your journal.

Let your creativity guide you!

21. GO FOR A WALK

There is nothing better than going out for a walk, enjoying nature, breathing fresh, clearing out your head and brainstorming ideas! Plus, you’ll get some steps in!

22. MOVE YOUR BODY

As a blogger you probably spend quite some time sitting behind a computer, right? I know I do!

So, why not give your body a little break from all that sitting and get a little workout in?

24. DEEP CLEAN YOUR WORKSPACE

Get rid of the clutter in your office or bedroom and organize your workspace!

A clean and organized environment will inspire you to be more productive.
