Tired of wasting your mornings and not starting off the day like a true girl boss? Then it’s time to spice up your mornings by creating a fresh, creative, and suitable morning routine for yourself. While mornings are only a fraction of your day, they still play an important role in your daily life. Which is why your morning routine can either help you successfully prepare for the day or it can help you sabotage your day. Yep, your morning routine, your choice! Therefore it’s important that you create a morning routine that will help you prepare for the day, achieve your goals, and be the best you! So, if you want to revamp your morning routine, here are 30 creative morning habits that will make you happier.

SET THE TONE FOR THE DAY IN THE MORNING

I’m a huge believer that your mornings set the tone for your day. Whatever you do in the morning will bite you in the butt during the day. If you have a great morning, your day will resemble it. On the other hand, if you start the day poorly, your day will most likely end that way (well, unless you’re able to miraculously kick out of a rut during the day!) So setting a positive tone at the beginning of the day is a must.

BUILD GREAT MORNINGS 

Although it seems easier said then done, it’s very possible to build great mornings!

And the best way to do so is by following some sort of routine. Routines help you develop habits, be consistent, and stay focused. If you have never created a morning routine before, learn how to create an effective morning routine suitable for you, here!

THE PERFECT MORNING ROUTINE

While there are many great morning rituals we can all do, not all of them are ideal for everyone. What works for me, may not work for you. And vice-versa! So, a perfect morning routine is pretty much a morning routine that works for you.

My version of a perfect morning routine may differ from yours. Even a morning routine that may have worked for me a year ago, may not be ideal or perfect for me now. The thing about morning routines is that they aren’t meant to be static. Morning routines are meant to change as you grow. 

Therefore, there is no such thing as a perfect morning routine model. A perfect morning routine simply consists of great morning habits that work for you and your schedule while contributing to the current stage of life you are in.

Before I share the 30 creative morning habits that you can add to your morning routine, let’s quickly recap what we’ve discussed so far.

Now that you understand why you should take your mornings seriously, let’s get to the best creative morning habits for you!

30 CREATIVE MORNING HABITS THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPIER

1. DIVIDE MORNING TASKS WITH ALARMS

Set up at least three alarms to divide up your morning tasks. Set an alarm to wake up, an alarm during half of your morning routine, and an alarm at the end of your morning routine! Doing this will help you accomplish all of your morning tasks and also make the most out of your mornings.

2. TIDY UP FIRST THINGS FIRST

Make your bed as soon as you wake up. This will help you not want to crawl back into bed.

3. TRY OIL PULLING

Have you ever heard of oil pulling? It’s a great way to improve your oral health.

All you have to do is swish a tablespoon of olive oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes. You can even do this while doing your makeup!

4. WHITEN YOUR TEETH

Use whitening strips to whiten your teeth! You can put on a whitening strip while getting dressed, doing your hair, or makeup!

5. PAMPER YOUR SKIN

Start off your day with a good hydrating face mask. You know your skin loves it. 

6. PRACTICE SOME SELF-CARE

Put oils on your skin and hair, paint your nails, take a bubble bath, etc!

7. BRUSH YOUR TEETH

This ones a bit obvious, but it never hurts to throw in this reminder, right? Brush your teeth before and after you have breakfast. 

8. TAKE A MOMENT TO RELAX

Give yourself a few minutes to simply relax. Open up a window, appreciate nature, and just breathe.

You can also play your favorite song and not do anything until the song finishes.

9. GIVE YOURSELF A “COLD AWAKENING”

Wash your face with cold water. This is not only super relaxing, but this will also help wake you up! 

10. ORGANIZE YOUR WORKSPACE

Set a positive tone for the day by tidying up your bedroom or workspace. An organized workspace will inspire you to be more productive. 

11. DRESS TO IMPRESS (YOURSELF…DUH)

Choose a pretty outfit and rock it (even if you’re working from home!)

12. PLAY WITH YOUR MAKEUP, OR DON’T

Do your make-up or keep it natural (curl lashes, put on moisturizer, lip balm, etc)

13. DO YOUR HAIR

Blow dry it, straighten it, curl it, or put it up in a cute messy bun. 

14. PUT PEN TO PAPER

Write down positive affirmations and things you’re grateful for in your journal.

15. FEED YOUR MIND

Watch inspirational videos on YouTube or listen to motivational podcasts.

16. PRACTICE A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Practice a NEW language on Duolingo! (It’s free)

17. READ FOR A BIT

Read 5-10 pages of a book.

18. DON’T MISS THE DAILY BIBLE VERSE

Read the daily Bible verse on the Bible app. It’ll take you less than 5 minutes. 

19. SAY HELLO TO PINTEREST

Go on Pinterest, find inspiration for the day, and pin away.

20. PRACTICE AFFIRMATIONS

Choose positive affirmations to repeat, look into the mirror, and repeat these affirmations to yourself.

    Oh man there are so many good ideas here Gabby! I am most interested in using a face mask and making a nice homemade breakfast. Or drinking tea! There are so many nice ideas here. I can’t imagine wanting to work out in the morning hahaha although I’m sure that would really wake me up and get ready to go! Thanks for sharing!

    I love the idea of starting my day with journalling/planning, exercising, and obviously sometime for doing hair and makeup. I’m hoping that during this month in between semesters, I’ll be able to develop a better routine for myself. I’d love to read more too – maybe I’ll try reading a few pages every morning instead of waiting until the end of the night when I’m already tired lol.

    I love so many of these ideas! I do a few of things you’ve listed already like making my bed, taking multi-vitamins and listening to podcasts. I’ve never really journaled but I’m thinking about getting one. I particularly like your suggestions of doing some pampering/self care and/or exercise first thing. Looking and feeling good would definitely start my day in a positive way. Thanks for sharing these.
