Being at home isn’t too bad
When I’m at home, time flies. Even as I’m writing this very post, time is flying by so quickly. I honestly always find myself wishing days were 30+ hours because I feel like I never have enough time to finish all of the things I want to do home. There’s just so many things to do and so little time! If I could trade money for hours, I would lol!
Every moment I get to spend home, I value dearly and try to use wisely. So, I rarely ever get bored at home. It’s safe to say that my time at home is my favorite time.
30 Fun Things To Do At Home
1. Netflix & Pinterest:
Netflix (or Disney +) is the home of entertaintment, while Pinterest is brimming with ideas and inspiration for every niche known to men. So, pinning, creating new boards and finding inspiration while watching something you enjoy is a win-win situation!
By the way, if you want to be Pinterest buddies, follow me on Pinterest, here!
2. DCO aka Declutter, Clean & Organize:
Pick a space in your house, get rid of clutter, clean and organize away! You don’t have to clean every single room/area of your house right away. You can choose a different area every time you are in the mood of “DCO-ing” There is nothing better than being in a clean and organized environment. And no one can tell me otherwise!
3. “Dear Diary” Moment:
I find it amusing when people assume that diaries/journals are only meant to be used by 14 year old girls. Journals can be used by absolutely *anyone* because journaling is simply the act of dumping all of one’s thoughts, feelings and emotions on to paper. Which we all have, regardless of our age! Don’t we? Journaling is quite therapeutic and beneficial. You can say everything you want because paper doesn’t judge! 😉
4. Start a Bullet Journal:
After seeing so many people fawn over bullet journaling, I decided to give it a try this year! I can’t begin to express how happy I am to have started a bullet journal. To me, bullet journaling has become a #selfcare hobby.
I absolutely enjoy going on Pinterest to find themes/inspiration for my spreads (check out my journaling board, here!), choosing different themes every month, new layouts every week, and filling in my journal with stickers, washi tape, highlighters, markers, pens, etc! Bullet journaling is a fun hobby that anyone can pick up and benefit from!
Why not create a blog? Creating a blog means creating a space on the internet where you can share your knowledge and love on topics that interest you, to an audience that motivates you to blog. On the other hand, if you already have a blog, use your time to create new content, update old posts, create graphics, edit photos, respond to comments, promote your blog posts on social media, grow your audience, etc.
Create a thread on Twitter and ask bloggers to share their latest and best posts with you! This is a great opportunity to read interesting blog posts and learn something new while supporting other bloggers! Grab a cup of coffee (or your favorite drink!), go through the thread and read each post (or at least as many as you can!)
7. Get lost in a book:
Speaking of reading, why not read a book? Choose a book, get cozy, and read away! If you don’t like to read, try reading an educational book! There has to be a topic that interests you. And reading is one of the best ways to learn more about something!
Personally, I love faith, fitness, and health books! <3
8. Study the Bible:
Although there are so many topics that interest me and thousands of books to read from, I have to admit that the Bible is by far my favorite book to read. I absolutely love reading and studying the Bible on a daily basis. The wisdom, consolation and inspiration found in the Bible can’t be found anywhere else.
Studying the Bible can be quite the delightful experience once you figure your way around the Bible and plan a good reading/studying system. Anyone who says that reading the Bible is “boring”, has not read it correctly or read it at all.
My time with scripture is one of my favorite times of the day and it usually goes by quickly because of how intrigued and interested I am while reading/scripture. If you don’t know where or how to begin, here are 10 fun ways you can read your Bible! 🙂
9. Create your own masterpiece:
As someone who has been a fan of art since a child, drawing comes natural to me. I don’t always have time to draw, but when I do, I have a complete blast. I enjoy drawing humans, characters, landscapes and all kinds of things! I mostly draw to draw, but sometimes I like drawing to add decor to my bedroom, gift someone a drawing, to share on my Instagram page or simply to create a “masterpiece“!
If you’re not into art like I am, try drawing yourself just for fun! Simply take a photo of yourself or choose a picture that you already have of yourself and try to recreate it the best as you can. Remember, you don’t have to be an artist to draw!
Do this just for fun! What if you are actually an artist and you never knew it? (-:
10. Create a Painting:
Again, art is in my veins. I love all things art. Painting is just another one of my hobbies. I enjoy creating paintings, whether they are for myself or for others. Unfortunately, I only have painting sessions from time to time because painting can be kind of messy! So, I try to make the best out of every painting session.
There is just something so liberating about expressing your creativity through paintings. And all you need to have a blast are brushes, paint & a canvas!
11. Do-it-yourself FUN:
There are easy and fun DIYS all over the web, especially on Pinterest and YouTube. And no DIYS are not just designed for kids. There are DIYs of all kinds of things for all kinds of people! I personally enjoy creating & trying out any kind of organization, decor, arts and crafts DIY projects. Here are some fun DIYS I have created!
12. Get your baking on!:
How does baking a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies, mouth-watering cupcakes or a delicious cake sound to you? Pretty good, doesn’t it? Nothing beats the smell and taste of freshly baked home-made goodies. My mouth is watering just picturing it <3
13. Recreate recipes:
Browse through food blogs, YouTube, and Pinterest and make a list of your favorite recipes. Once you have created a list of the recipes you want to try, recreate them! Not only will you have a blast experimenting with different foods, seasonings, and spices, but you will also have lunch or dinner ready for yourself!
14. Make Homemade Pizza:
Speaking of food, why not make the best food on this planet aka pizza? There is nothing more divine on this earth than Pizza. Pineapple pizza, if I’m being specific 😉 Out of all the foods I have made, nothing comes close to making Pizza. The entire process is absolutely fun! And it only takes about three hours to make 2-3 pies of pizza. If you need a easy and delicious NYC-style pizza recipe, check this recipe out!
PS: I’m currently working on creating a Vegan Pizza recipe (:
15. Burn calories at home!:
NO GYM? No problem. Nowadays, there’s really no excuse to NOT exercise (unless your doctor has banned you from exercising!) You can easily exercise at the comfort of your home. All you need to do is find a space in your home (here’s how to set up a workout area at home), look for workout videos on YouTube (here’s my favorite fitness YouTuber) or follow one of my workout routines here and workout!
I absolutely love being able to exercise at any time and for however long I want, without having to worry about any external factors.
16. Mini online shopping spree:
If you can afford it, treat yourself to some new clothes, makeup or products! Browse through different online stores, look for coupons, special deals and shop! Every month, I like setting aside a specific amount of money for my little online shopping sprees. Once I hit my limit, I wait until the next month to shop again! It’s all about balance, really. You can definitely spoil yourself, but still be wise with your money.
17. Create wishlists:
If your finances don’t allow you to go on a shopping spree, create wish-lists! Browse through different online stores and create wish-lists so that when you do have the money, you can shop from your lists! Or you can share your wish-lists with friends and family. Not only do wish-lists give you something to look forward to, but they inspire you to work harder in order to cross items off from them (:
Even though I set money aside to shop every month, I still create wish lists! Like I said earlier, I believe in balance. I don’t just buy everything I want and see. I like saving things in my cart or creating wish lists as a way to “shop” but not really spend money at the moment.
18. Put on a face mask:
Practice self-love and skin-care all at once by pampering your face with face masks! If you don’t have any face masks at home, try creating homemade masks! I have recently started doing #MaskMonday with my sister and I’m obsessed. Every Monday night we choose a different mask and put it on for 15-20 minutes. I always look forward to buying new masks, trying different masks and enjoying those relaxing 20 minutes every Monday. #MaskMonday has quickly become one of my favorite rituals!
19. Manicure time:
And self-care continues! Choose your favorite nail polish and paint your nails. I love doing my nails every Sunday and starting the week with freshly painted nails. Painting my nails is also one of my favorite ways to practice self-care! (:
20. Practice a new language:
As a bilingual myself, I can confirm that being fluent in more than one language is SO beneficial and fun. It is so marvelous to understand things or express yourself in different languages. I like to think that every language is a door.
The more languages you know, the more doors you can open. Nowadays, there are so many ways you can learn new languages. I’m currently trying to learn Portuguese through my favorite language app – Duolingo. So, if you want to learn a new language in a fun manner, create a Duolingo account, choose a language and start learning!
21. Learn something new:
Don’t be a slave to ignorance. There is always something NEW to learn. Research a topic you have always wanted to learn more about or research a topic you have no knowledge on! I recently started researching the vegan lifestyle and I am mind blown at the misconceptions I had on Vegans. I can’t believe that in this little time of researching I have already learned about so many vegan products I never knew existed. I have started making changes to the foods and products I consume and I’m obsessed. I wish I would have learned this information sooner!
22. Create a vision board:
Bring your goals and dreams to life by creating a space filled with inspiration! Add inspirational quotes, sayings, photos, drawings, stickers, decorations, washi tape and any thing else that you think will tie up your vision board!
23. Plan. Plan. Plan:
Use a planner to plan your daily tasks, habits and goals! I love using a planner to set goals for myself, physically cross off tasks I have accomplished, write down what I have to do and what I have already done, plan for events, and keep my life organized!
24. Download new apps:
Go to the App Store and discover new apps. Download apps that can assist you. For example, if you’re a content creator, download apps that will help you create, schedule, promote and share better content! There are apps for all fields and niches. Ideally, you should download apps that will help you be more productive. However, balance is necessary. Downloading 2 or 3 game apps won’t kill you.
25. Listen to podcasts:
Subscribe to motivational podcasts and listen to them while you’re working on tasks! I love listening to blogging podcasts while cleaning or organizing my house.
26. Listen to music:
Create a playlist (on YouTube, Spotify, or on the music app) with your favorite songs and listen the the entire playlist while relaxing or completing tasks. Your choice. Sing along to each song or just let the melody and lyrics of each song touch you.
27. Play boardgames:
If you’re at home with someone else (family, significant other, or a friend), take out some classic boardgames (monopoly, apples to apples, operation, etc) out and play with and against each other! Playing boardgames is an incredible way to spend quality time bonding with someone in a simple, healthy and fun manner!
28. Puzzles time:
Complete sudoku, crossword, or word search puzzles. They’re addicting and great for your brain! And you can find all kinds of puzzles at the dollar store! Even though I completely suck at them, I love doing sudoku puzzles!
29. Movie marathon:
Plan the amount of movies you want to watch, choose movies you want to watch, prepare/buy snacks to eat while you’re having your movie marathon, get comfortable, and enjoy your movie marathon by yourself or with family and friends!
30. Catch up on YouTube:
And sometimes it’s okay to just relax and not do anything, as long as you do it with moderation! Take an hour (and no more) to go through your queue and catch up with some of the videos you have missed over the past weeks guilt-free!
I hope you were able to find a few things on this list that you want to do the next time you have free time at home! Please share with me in the comments below what YOU like to do when you’re at home!
Until next time,
