Time is always something we never seem to have enough of. I’m sure that most of us have said something like, “there’s not enough time in the day to get everything done”, to ourselves at least once or twice in our lives. Regardless of whether you’re studying, in full-time work, or a stay at home parent, it’s still super difficult to find the time to complete everything you want to in a day. This is something I’ve particularly struggled with since I started blogging. As much as I love blogging, it can be tough to juggle running a successful blog whilst working full time, exercising regularly and socializing. But, I’ve adopted some great time management tips to help me get the most out of my day – which I’ll be sharing with you in this post!

Why Time Management Tips Are Important
So, are time management tips really that important? The answer is, Yes! They are. They’re important for a number of reasons. Here’s some to name a few:
1. Increased productivity
Firstly, if you manage your time effectively, you’ll find that your productivity will increase, so you’re able to complete more tasks in a day.
2. Decreased stress levels
As your time management improves, and your productivity levels increase, so your stress levels will decrease. You won’t constantly be stressing over the large number of tasks you need to do because you didn’t use your time effectively.
3. More time for friends and family (and yourself)
If you manage to utilize your time, this will mean you’ll be able to spend more quality time with your loved ones. Or, simply to give yourself a day off to have some me time!
4. Higher standard of work
Another reason why time management tips are so important is because the standard of the work you produce is likely to improve. This is because you’re less likely to make errors, than if you were frantically rushing to complete tasks last minute because you’ve ran out of time.
Top 5 Time Management Tips To Help You Stay Organized
So, now you understand why getting a hold of your time is so important, let’s explore the best time management tips to put in place, so you can experience these benefits. Just to note, these time management tips are things that I’ve tried and have worked brilliantly for me. But, not everyone is the same! It’s all about experimenting with a few different things and finding what works for you. So, don’t be disheartened if one tip doesn’t work, simply move on and try another!
1. PLAN YOUR WEEKS
My favorite time management tip is organization and planning! Every Sunday, I dedicate half an hour of my day to plan for the next week ahead. I schedule everything from tasks/meetings at work, and when I’m going to exercise, to which blogging/social media tasks I need to complete each day. This allows me to enter every new week with a clear mind, and refined focus as to what I need to get done. That way I’m not wasting time trying to remember what it is I’m supposed to be doing!

2. SET YOURSELF TIME LIMITS
So, I know it sounds ridiculously simple, but try setting yourself actual time limits. Say to yourself I’m going to give myself an hour to knuckle down and do as much of this task as possible, without any distractions. Make sure you turn off the TV and perhaps put your phone onto do not disturb during this time! If you don’t finish the task completely, that’s ok. But at least you know you were as productive as physically possible in that given time frame. I’d suggest setting an alarm to go off on your phone, so you’re not constantly watching the clock, as that in itself can be another unnecessary distraction and time waster.
3. UTILIZE YOUR MOST PRODUCTIVE HOURS
Another great time management tip is to make use of the times when you’re most productive. So, if you’re generally really productive in the morning make sure you’re waking up a little earlier everyday to fit in that workout, or get those blogging/writing tasks done. On the other hand, if you’re more of a night owl, perhaps sleep in a little later and use the time in the evenings after you’ve finished work to get through that to do list. Again, this is relevant if you’re not working a 9-5 as well. Even if you’re self employed, or a full time blogger for instance, you should work at the time of day when you’re most productive. Plus, don’t stress about how other people are working! There’s no right way to do it, other than the way that works best for you, and saves you the most time.
4. OPTIMIZE THE WAY YOU COMPLETE TASKS
Rather than trying to complete a million different things at once, with a million different tabs open on your desktop, try to focus on one thing at a time. Have as few tabs open as physically possible to avoid getting overwhelmed by the task at hand. This isn’t to say you can’t flick between different tasks, but if you do, try saving and closing everything before you move onto something else. Or at least open another browser. That way you’re allowing your mind to focus on one thing, rather than wasting time as your mind drifts to other things you need to complete. Try as much as possible to consolidate the way you work. Know exactly what it is you need to do, and where you need to go / what you need to complete it. So you don’t end up here, there, and everywhere!
5. BE REALISTIC WITH YOURSELF
The most important time management tip is to be realistic with yourself. Even the most productive and efficient people realize that there are only so many hours in the day and sometimes it’s not realistic to get absolutely everything done. Sometimes things come up last minute which mean you can’t complete what you’d planned to do. This is perfectly fine. Just rearrange your schedule and start again the next day. While it’s good to be super disciplined most of the time when it comes to time management, also remember that you’re not a robot! You deserve to have time off to spend with friends or family, or do nothing at all. Plus, you also deserve to reward yourself for the things you did complete, opposed to beating yourself up for the things you didn’t get round to. It’s about being in tune with yourself and recognizing how you can optimize and get more out of your time, whilst still taking care of your mental wellbeing.
