7 Different Locations to Workout in.

Who ever said that exercise was only meant to be done at the gym? No one ever. The only “factor” that you need to rely on when you exercise is your body, not your location. The location you exercise in is only meant to enhance your workout , not be the core of it. So, whether you are interested in trying out new locations to workout in or you would simply like to discover the workout location that works best for YOU (depending on your preference) – here are 7 fun locations where you could workout in.

The most popular and suitable location of them all: the GYM. It’s clear that the gym is the home of all things fitness, the heaven and the happy place of all fitness enthusiastics. 

Inside of a gym
  • The variety of equipment and machines available. 
  • Availability of personal trainers to train with.
  • Best environment to workout in.
  • Loads of fitness inspiration everywhere.
  • There is a lot of space to workout in.
  • Creat gym buddies!
  • Monthly membership fees.
  • Gas cost.
  • Time it takes to travel to the gym and back home.
  • Crowded gym at certain times.
  • Little to no privacy.


The most convenient and comfortable location to workout in: HOME sweet home. 

Furniture at home
  • Personal convenience.
  • No traveling – save time and gas.
  • Avoid monthly membership fees.
  • No pressure to exercise a certain way.
  • Privacy (not being watched!) 
  • Flexibility to workout at your own pace and at whatever time.
  • The weather has no effect.
  • You can use your computer or TV to follow YouTube workouts.
  • Limited space to workout in, depending how big your home is.
  • Easily distracted (if you’re not strict)
  • Limited equipment and machines.
  • Unless you’re very disciplined, it’s easy to slack.

The most nature-feel location to get an effective workout (with lots of vitamin-D) in: the PARK

There are a lot of trees in a park
  • The amount of space available.
  • You can breathe fresh air (this is great for your mind!)
  • Free sunlight (get your Vitamin-D!)
  • Nature vibes – relaxing environment.
  • The perfect place for walks and runs.
  • Beautiful scenery
  • Grass resistance (makes workouts harder and more effective)
  • You can use benches, pullup bars and other equipment available at the park.
  • Going to the park is free.
  • It can get pretty crowded (especially on certain occasions.)
  • Public to anyone (little privacy during your workout unless the park is empty)
  • Weather inconvenience (if it’s snowing or raining!)
  • Can’t escape from bugs.
  • Grass – since it is not a flat ground, you can get injured if you’re not careful.


The location with the most stunning view and relaxing vibe of them all: the BEACH.

  • Sunlight (Lots of Vitamin-D!)
  • You can get a tan while working out. Win-win! (:
  • The resistance from the sand makes workouts harder & more effective.
  • You can use a beach ball for exercises.
  • An empty beach = more space!
  • No cost!
  • You can get easily dirty with sand.
  • The sand makes it harder to workout.
  • Crowded on special occasions.
  • No privacy to workout.
  • Ground workouts are pretty uncomfortable.
  • Far to travel.
  • Too much sunlight exposure. 
  • Weather inconvenience (too hot, cold, or raining) 


The best alternative when you’re traveling and have no gym options: your HOTEL room. You don’t have to skip a workout just because you’re on vacation 🙂

A hotel bedroom
  • The room temperature is perfect.
  • Great scenery.
  • Relaxing environment.
  • Convenient alternative during trips.
  • No extra cost.
  • You can follow YouTube workout videos (there’s always free wifi!) 
  • Not enough space to exercise in.
  • You can’t make much noise, so avoid any jumping exercises.
  • No equipment or machines.


The perfect combo of beautiful scenery, water and a solid ground to workout in: POOL side.

  • Beautiful scenery.
  • You can use the pool for water exercises, if you want to.
  • A solid ground to exercise in.
  • Sunlight (Lots of Vitamin-D!)
  • Receive fresh air.
  • You have to be careful to not fall into the pool (especially if you don’t know how to swim – seriously)
  • There’s not enough space.
  • Too much sunlight exposure.
  • Weather inconvenience (too hot, cold, or raining!)


The most convenient outdoor location to workout in: your BACKYARD.

The backyard of a house
  • You can make the best use of your backyard! 
  • Get some sunlight (Vitamin-D!)
  • Grass resistance (makes workout harder and more effective!)
  • No traveling – you can save time and gas!
  • No cost – it’s free!
  • Privacy to workout.
  • Can easily go for a walk, jog and a run
  • Weather inconvenience (too hot, cold, or raining.)
  • Grass – not a flat ground (can get injured if not careful!)

    Gabby this is the kind of post that deserves more attention from fitness blogs! Really enjoyed reading this as a fitness freak myself! Some locations like beach and pool are ones I didn’t expect to see tbh. The idea of working out on a beach is very appealing to me cos of the greater challenge it’ll give me. It also explains why a lot of elite athletes often train on sand too!

    I recently stopped going to the gym and now exercise at home – there are cons though as you say, especially a lack of equipment. I’d love the chance to exercise on a beach though or by a poolside! Much better than in my cramped dining room! xxx
