8 Monthly Habits Of Productive People
1. PRAY TO GOD
One of the best new habits I started in 2020 is adding prayer to my everyday life. Sure, I would pray at church and at home (here and there) However, I was never consistent or intentional with prayer. In 2020 I learned that praying is communicating with God on a personal level. Prayer goes far beyond repeating religious words – prayer is opening your entire heart up and letting your words flow without pressure, shame, or rules.
Adding prayer to my daily routine has not only helped me stay grounded, but it has also influenced my behavior throughout the month. Although I love having a moment of prayer every morning, I like setting a day aside (at the beginning of the month) to specifically pray for the entire month. This helps me release my thoughts, feelings, goals, worries, and plans for the month on to God’s hands. Instead of worrying, panicking, and stressing about the start of a new month, I leave absolutely everything in God’s hands. My worries become His. My problems become His.
By doing this, I am able to start a new month with hope, peace, and confidence in my heart.
Things you can pray for:
- Your health.
- The well-being of your loved ones.
- The goals you have.
- Your plans for the month – ask for guidance.
- Things that are worrying you.
- Your mental health.
- A new project you’re starting.
- Weaknesses you’re struggling with.
- Battles you want to overcome.
- Things that are hurting you.
- Negative thoughts that consume you.
2. SET GIRL BOSS GOALS
People always ask me how I’m always so productive, organized, and disciplined. Well, my secret is….. GOAL SETTING. Setting goals for yourself is so important because goals help you determine what you want to achieve, the direction you want to go, and how you’re going to achieve that. Without goals, you aren’t really living life, you’re simply existing. So, I’ve made it a habit of mine to set at least 10 goals for myself every month.
I started setting personal growth monthly goals back in 2018, but over the years they have shifted more towards my business. So, although I do set spiritual goals, personal growth goals, and fitness goals every month, I always make sure to set very specific goals for my business monthly. This helps me stay focused, motivated, and productive all month long. I don’t always accomplish every single goal, but I usually get very close!
3. FILL IN YOUR PLANNER & CALENDAR
One of my favorite things to do at the beginning of every month is fill out both my planner and calendar! Planning your month at the beginning of the month rather than just “going with the flow” will help you enter the month prepared, aware, and motivated.
Some of the things you can write down in your planner are:
- Events you need to attend
- Birthdays
- Deadlines you have
- Goals for the month
- Major tasks you need to accomplish
- Projects
- Holidays (I like writing down national days that relate to my business)
- Social media posts, challenges, events, tasks, etc.
- If you’re a blogger like me: blog posts to publish, blogging goals, blogging tasks, etc.
- Healthy habits (e.g workout 5x a week, drink 1l of water daily, etc)
- Workouts to do
- Budget
If you’re looking for a girl boss calendar, I created a printable calendar that you can use all year long: The Magical Life Calendar. The Magical Life Calendar includes 12 calendar pages and 12 life planning worksheets! Plus, this printable calendar is undated so you can use it any year you’d like!
4. CLEAN + ORGANIZE + DECLUTTER
I don’t know about you, but cleaning, organizing, and decluttering completely relaxes me and brightens up my mood. Call me crazy, but whenever I’m feeling stressed, anxious, or annoyed, I like to clean. Cleaning always helps me get rid of stress, find motivation to work, clear out my head, and feel better afterwards, so it’s one of the activities I swear by. Although the thought of spending hours cleaning sounds a little daunting and unappealing at first (similarly to a workout) there will never be a time that you will regret it. So, whether you’re someone who enjoys cleaning or not, I definitely recommend making it a habit to clean your home and workspace at least once every single month.
Here are some things you can clean, organize, and declutter:
- Workspace
- Bedroom
- Bathroom
- Kitchen
- Living room
- Car
- Refrigerator
- Makeup
- Closet
- Pantry
5. PLAN YOUR MEALS + FITNESS
If you’re trying to live a healthier life, I highly suggest planning your meals and workouts in advance! Not only will this help you save money, but it’ll also help you save time and mentally prepare for the month. Now, you don’t have to create an in depth fitness plan (you can if you want to) or even use a fitness planner to plan/track meals and workouts. You can simply use your daily planner or calendar to jot down:
- Meals you want to prepare
- Muscles you want to train
- Cheat days
- Workouts you want to try
- Whether you’re going to workout at home or at the gym
- Grocery shopping days

6. CREATE A SMART BUDGET
Being aware of how much money comes in and goes out will help you spend your money more wisely. So, take sometime at the beginning of the month to create a budget and at the end of the month to fill out your revenue, expenses, and savings. This will help you distribute your money better, be aware of the income you’re making, save more money, and plan better for other months. If you don’t know how to create a budget, there are a lot of budget printables you can use online! However, I am working on re-designing the Magical Life Calendar and including a budget printable there! So, I will update this post when the calendar has been updated!
7. BULLET JOURNAL
This habit is a little more personal, but I still recommend that you try it if you’re looking for a creative habit to practice, don’t want to invest in a planner, or you simply want to try something new! In 2020 I started my first ever bullet journal and I have been obsessed with bullet journaling ever since. It may be the planner and artist in me, but there’s just something so special and relaxing about choosing a new bullet journal theme, designing spreads monthly, and filling out my bullet journal every single month. If you’re new to bullet journaling, don’t let well-designed bullet journals intimidate you. We all start somewhere!
The first two months in my 2020 bullet journal were completely hideous, childish, and quite embarrassing haha! However, as the months went by, my bullet journaling skills started improving. So much so that I have been sharing my spreads on Instagram every single month. Here are some of my favorite themes I’ve done in 2020!
December Theme
Thanksgiving + Autumn Theme
Bambi Theme

8. HAVE A DESIGNATED SELF-CARE DAY
Although this is last on the list, it’s just as important as all of the monthly habits I previously listed! I used to like hustling without taking breaks and this caused me to burn out so many times. So, I have made it a habit to set aside one day every single month to just relax and forget about work, blogging, social media, etc. I like having a “self-care day” usually at the end or at the beginning of the month so that I can fully relax, recharge, and welcome the next month with a lot of energy and motivation.

Love all of these. I’m 110% with you on the clean/declutter angle. I’m always looking for new ways to lighten my environment and get the noise out of the way. It helps in so many ways. And I’m glad you put planning/calendar on here too. I think that’s something I need to start taking more seriously. I always have everything written down somewhere, but I’d love to get more focused on planning out my days/weeks at the high level.
Thank you for reading. So glad you can resonate with some of these habits. 🙂
Love all of those sentences.. I highly recommend people to wake early in the morning and feel free to get fresh air.
Thank you! Yes agreed 🙏🏻
