SAY YES TO GOD

Like I said before, it’s not always easy to pick up your Bible to read when your mind is elsewhere.

It’s pretty challenging to just say no to worldly things and read the Bible instead. But, if saying no to worldly things (even if it’s just for another) means saying yes to God, why not do it? I like to think that if you can find an hour during the day to exercise and devote time to your physical health, you can find some time to work on your spiritual health, as well. Hey, those spiritual muscles need a workout too!

FIND MOTIVATION TO READ THE BIBLE

However, just like it’s challenging to find motivation to workout everyday, it’s also challenging to read scripture everyday. Picking up a Bible can be just as challenging as picking up some weights. Especially, if you don’t have any motivation to read. When you just read the Bible for the sake of reading, it’ll be harder for you to stay consistent.

Just imagine doing a workout with only jumping jacks. Not only will you get bored of repeating the same exercise over and over again, but you’ll also get tired quickly and you won’t be motivated to workout every again. The same concept applies when reading the Bible. If you continue to read your Bible in a manner that does not inspire you to continue reading, you’ll give up reading your Bible all together.

READ THE BIBLE IN A CREATIVE WAY

So the key when reading the Bible, is not to be repetitive but to be creative. It’s necessary to always find new ways to read scripture. Something that has been helping me a lot lately is reading the Bible in a different manner everyday. And one of those ways is adding journaling tabs to my Bible as I read. Adding bible journaling tabs makes reading the Bible way more effective and fun. They also help me read with purpose. In order for me to add a new tab, I have to read the Bible in a more detailed, concentrated, and conscious way.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT USING BIBLE JOURNALING TABS

  • The ability to categorize and label topics, characters, and verses.
  • Keep a note of my favorite verses.
  • Make key notes on important topics.

How fun and convenient, right?

BIBLE FOR DIY BIBLE JOURNALING TABS

Since I own quite a few Bibles, I decided to set aside one of my Bible just for tabs. So, this is not the main Bible I use to read to take to church. I only use this Bible to add tabs.

DIY Easy Bible Journaling Tabs For Your Bible

Since I have had such a lovely experience with Bible journaling tabs, I’m going to teach you how to quickly make bible tabs for your Bible, too!

DIY BIBLE JOURNALING TABS SUPPLIES:

  • White paper or colored paper
  • Colored Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Clear Tape
  • Black Pen (I use the Pilot G-2 10 black pen)
Supplies to create bible journaling tabs

HOW TO CREATE BIBLE JOURNALING TABS FOR YOUR BIBLE:

  1. Cut out long strips of paper – whatever size you want! TIP: Don’t cut them too thin or too thick.
  2. Choose a few colored pencils (depending on the amount of color you want on your Bible)
  3. Color each strip of paper (you can use the same color for all strips or different colors)
  4. Store the strips of paper in a jar or inside of a drawer.

CREATE TABS WHILE READING THE BIBLE:

1. Once you decide what you want to write on your tab, grab one of the strips of papers (previously made) and label it. In this tab, I wrote “I love you Lord”

2. Once you have written a word or a phrase on the paper, cut the piece of paper. Make sure to leave extra space on the side that you will tape (just a few cms) that way you can see your tab when you close your Bible.

3. Now that your tab has been cut out, add a piece of tape over your tab to laminate it.

Add the tape, fold down the top and bottom excess tape and cut out the excess tape from the sides.

4. Finally, grab the laminated tab and place it where you want the tab to show on your Bible. Cut out a small piece of tape and add the tape over the blank space you have reserved in step 2.

Tada! Your tab has succesfully been created. I like to highlight the scripture that goes with my tab, so I usually color over it, underline it, or draw an arrow to connect the tab with the verse!

Now as you can see, I have tabs on both sides! However, the paper that I use is glossy on one side, so I can’t write on both sides. I have to manually create two tabs and tape them together. If I’m reading on the right side of a paper and I create tabs, I flip the page over and I go ahead and read and create tabs for the left side of the paper, too. That way I won’t have a billion of empty tabs on one side.
