how to successfully find your passion to blog

Start a blog, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. While blogging is absolutely fun, it can also be a true hassle when you don’t know what to write about or when you don’t have any inspiration to create content. You don’t have to be positing frequently to be a successful blogger. In fact, I’ve seen many bloggers do pretty well without posting often. However, you do need to be maintain your passion for blogging in order to keep up with your blog (remember, blogging is so much more than just writing 1,500 words). So, whether you’re a new blogger looking to discover your passion to blog or a seasoned blogger who is lacking motivation to blog, below I’m going to show you how to successfully find your passion to blog.

One of the biggest mistakes that bloggers make is choosing to blog for money over passion. If you blog strictly for money, I’m sorry to break it to you, but you will get discouraged very quickly. No one starts a blog and starts making thousands of dollars the following day.

So if you start a blog with the intention of making big money right away, you will get discouraged when money doesn’t come your way.

On the other hand, if you write for passion, you won’t rely on any outside factors for inspiration. You’ll remain true to yourself and your blog because everything you need to continue writing (true passion) is already inside of YOU, not outside or around you.

how to successfully find your passion to blog

Passion /ˈpaSHən/: An intense desire or enthusiasm for something.

“Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession”

First things first, ask yourself what are you most passionate about in life?

What are the things that bring you genuine joy? Is it fitness? beauty? wellness? food? blogging?

Take a good minute to brainstorm what you’re most passionate about in life and go ahead and list five topics you are most passionate about. But, don’t think too hard. Let your answers be completely genuine, sincere and natural.

For example, my top 5 would be:

  • Faith
  • Blogging
  • Fitness
  • Personal Development
  • Art

Once you have written down the 5 topics that interest you the most, it’s time to completely focus on them.

Yes, it’s as simple as it sounds – FOCUS on your passion.

How can you focus on your passion?

If your passion is fitness, don’t just write about fitness topics based off on other’s experiences, get involved with fitness yourself. Workout, try out new exercises, go to the gym, workout at home, lead a fit lifestyle, etc! And if your passion is art, then draw, paint, sculpt, etc.

Try to actively consume anything related to your passion.

Go ahead and create a list of activities you can do for each topic you listed.

It could be anything like drawing, working out, journaling, writing, cooking, traveling, or doing your makeup!

No matter how much you already know (or think you know!) about a topic, you can always learn something new!

Don’t ever limit yourself.

Read books and articles, study textbooks, watch videos, listen to podcasts, ask experts in the field, etc. Use your resources to your favor.

Take a moment to look for sources that will help you feed your passion!

Brainstorm books you can read, podcasts you can listen to, videos you can watch, and blogs you can subscribe to.

Now that you know what topics you’re passionate about and have consumed enough content, you can create content related to those topics.

It’s a lot easier to create content on topics you’re passionate about than on topics you don’t really care for or have much knowledge on. If you want to stick to blogging, you have to make sure you have chosen the right niche for you. So, if you’re someone who is passionate about fitness, then write about fitness instead of blogging. If you force yourself to write about blogging, this will eventually drain you.

Such a cute printout Gabby! I felt like this when I was starting out. I have SOO many passions like my passion for Bath & Body Works lotions, tea, anime and video games, etc. It’s helpful to write things down and really think of how we can feed our passion and get more inspo for blogging! Thanks for sharing girly <3

First, I simultaneously LOL’d and nodded my head at your opener to this post because blogging/YouTube is honestly such a time, labor, and creativity-intensive hobby that most people don’t realize lol.

Second, I love the idea for this new series because its so important for bloggers to be sharing these types of tips and having these kinds of conversations with one another. Also, the graphic template you created looks so dope and I’m always impressed by how you use your creative talents to create things like this!

I love the idea of this series and I can’t wait to read more! I’m actually experiencing one of those ‘lack of motivation’ days for blogging but hopefully I can get some work done tomorrow! I’ve also recently spent some time thinking about what my passions are and this was really helpful – thank you!

Millie, thank you for stopping by! I completely understand how you feel – I experience those days more than you can imagine. However, I always get out of a rut and find my way back to blogging. Take a deep breath, give yourself a break, remember what your passions are and the inspiration will come right back to you!
