How To Successfully Find Your Passion To Blog

August 13, 2019
There's a pink journal on a blogger's table

Start a blog, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. Well, blogging is infact absolutely fun all until one of two things happen: 1) you have no idea what to write about 2) you have no inspiration to create content. Unfortunately, losing your inspiration and passion can heavily impact your blogging. Passion is essential when it comes to blogging, if you don’t have any passion for blogging or for the topics you write about, it’ll be very tricky to remain consistent. So, whether you need help to discover your passion(s), a reminder of your passions, or tips on how to devote yourself more to your passions in order to find inspiration to blog, keep reading.

One of the biggest mistakes that bloggers make is choosing to write for money over passion.

If you write strictly for money, you will only have inspiration to write as long as you’re earning money.

The minute that money doesn’t come your way, you’ll get discouraged and lose your inspiration to write all together. A huge no no!

On the other hand, if you write for passion, you won’t rely on any outside factors for inspiration. You’ll remain true to yourself and your blog because everything you need (true passion) to continue writing is already inside of YOU, not outside or around you.

Which is why, in the first post of this series we will be discussing all about PASSION!

How To Successfully Find Your Passion To Blog PIN

Passion /ˈpaSHən/: An intense desire or enthusiasm for something.

“All your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession”

What are you most passionate about in life?

What are the things that bring you genuine joy? Is it art? Fashion? Fitness? Health? Wellness? Beauty? Make up? Food? Sports? Journaling?

It can definietly be more than one thing! I am personally passionate about many things in life, so I can’t just choose one!

Take a good minute to think and go ahead and list 5 topics  you are most passionate about. Don’t think too hard. Let your answers be completely genuine, sincere and natural.

My top 5 would definietly be:

  • blogging
  • fitness
  • faith
  • healthy, happy & productive lifestyle
  • art

Once you have discovered and written down the 5 topics that interest you the most, it’s time to completely focus on them. Yes, it’s as simple as it sounds – FOCUS on your passion.

How can you focus on your passion?

If your passion is fitness, don’t just write about fitness topics based off on other’s experiences, engage with fitness yourself. Workout, try out new exercises, go to the gym, workout at home, lead a fit lifestyle, etc! Or if your passion is art, then draw, paint, sculpt, etc.

Try to actively engage with anything related to your passion.

List some activities that you can do for each of your passions, it could be anything like drawing, working out, journaling, writing, cooking, traveling, or doing your makeup!

No matter how much you already know (or think you know!) about a topic, you can always learn something new!

Don’t ever limit yourself.

Read books and articles, study textbooks, watch videos, listen to podcasts, ask experts in the field, etc. Use your resources to your favor.

Take a moment to look for sources that will help you feed your passion!

Brainstorm  the books you can read, podcasts you can listen to, videos you can watch, and blogs you can subscribe to.

Once you have your passion(s) set in stone and you’re devotedly following and feeding your passion, blog post ideas will come to you naturally. Find your passion and the posts will come.

I hope you found this post helpful. Definietly keep your eyes peeled for the next post in this series!

Until next time,

Such a cute printout Gabby! I felt like this when I was starting out. I have SOO many passions like my passion for Bath & Body Works lotions, tea, anime and video games, etc. It’s helpful to write things down and really think of how we can feed our passion and get more inspo for blogging! Thanks for sharing girly <3

First, I simultaneously LOL’d and nodded my head at your opener to this post because blogging/YouTube is honestly such a time, labor, and creativity-intensive hobby that most people don’t realize lol.

Second, I love the idea for this new series because its so important for bloggers to be sharing these types of tips and having these kinds of conversations with one another. Also, the graphic template you created looks so dope and I’m always impressed by how you use your creative talents to create things like this!

I love the idea of this series and I can’t wait to read more! I’m actually experiencing one of those ‘lack of motivation’ days for blogging but hopefully I can get some work done tomorrow! I’ve also recently spent some time thinking about what my passions are and this was really helpful – thank you!

Millie, thank you for stopping by! I completely understand how you feel – I experience those days more than you can imagine. However, I always get out of a rut and find my way back to blogging. Take a deep breath, give yourself a break, remember what your passions are and the inspiration will come right back to you!
