The 30 Best Habits For A Happy Life.
The person I am today is not the same person I was a year ago. A year ago, I was so unhappy, confused, and unhealthy to the point where I felt like I had no purpose in this world. It sounds horrible to say now, but I was tired of living the same “meaningless and sad” kind of day, again and again. So, I had to do something to change my life. I became obsessed with creating a happy life, adapting new habits, and taking care of my physical and mental well being and ended up creating a life I am now happy with. Therefore, with the hope of helping others who may feel like I did a year ago, I want to share 30 of the best habits that have helped me create a happy life.

EXPERIENCING CONSTANT SADNESS
I spent most of my days feeling awfully sad (with and without reason!)
Sadness was always just there for me.
I even recall writing in a journal entry, “I feel as if sadness haunts me.” It definitely seemed like everything I would do would lead me to the same dark road of sadness.
CRYING TO GOD FOR HELP
So, after dealing with constant sadness for about a year or so, I decided to ask God for help. One day in prayer, I cried to God like never before and opened my heart to him without sugar coating anything. I told him I was exhuasted, tired, hopeless and although I was unworthy of even being listened to by him, he was the last bit of hope I had left.
HOPE FROM GOD
As I was pouring my heart out crying to God, something strange but wonderful happened. While I was praying with my eyes closed, I envisioned my future.
I envisioned a happy Gabby with a happy family living a happy life.
That right there was the hope I was looking for all along. It’s as if God was trying to tell me that there was a future I had to fight for, so I couldn’t give up just yet.
This is when I decided to fight for my life, my happiness my future.
CHANGING MY LIFE AROUND
God gave me hope and I wasn’t just going to let it fade away.
So, I decided to completely change my lifestyle and take care of my health (something I never cared about doing before!) I realized that unless I would completely change my habits, adapt new ones and eliminate toxic ones, I would continue to have the same results. Therefore, I began to work on my physical, mental, and spiritual health like if my life depended on it – and consequently my life changed for the better.
CREATING A HAPPY LIFE WITH HEALTHY HABITS
For that reason and with the hope of being able to help someone else, I have compiled a list of 30 habits that have helped me lead a happier and healthier life.
Now, in no way can I say that I have been happy every single day since implementing these habits (I wished!) However, I can confidently say that I have been in a much better place and in a healthier state of mind since. I am here today living a better life only because God guided me to change my lifestyle around, and guess what? You can too.
So, let’s get right into my 30 best habits for a happy life!
THE 30 BEST HABITS FOR A HAPPY LIFE:
HEALTH + SELF-CARE HABITS
Not to sound cliche, but hydrate, hydrate, hydrate – Drink 2L of water everyday like if your life depended on it (it seriously does!)
Water is essential for your mental & physical health.
2. Replace drinks with water.
In the spirit of drinking lots of water a day, try replacing juice and soda with water for 90% of your meals!
This will easily help you increase your water intake and reduce your sugar intake.
3. Introduce chia seeds into your life.
They’re versatile and easy to use in any recipe. Add chia seeds to your glass of water and baam you’ll get a glass of water in & some chia seeds in your system.
4. Drink a glass of lemon water.
OK, last “water-related” habit, I promise! Aim to drink a glass of lemon water (with no sugar) at least 4x a week. Lemon is loaded in Vitamin-C – an antioxidant that helps your immune system.
5. Switch your milk.
“If she’s not your mom, it’s not your milk!” Save the cows and your body from antibiotics and hormones. Switch from regular milk to almond milk.
Almond milk is such a delicious alternative. I love oat milk and cashew milk, too!
6. Hello almonds, goodbye Advils.
Eat 10 almonds a day. Did you know that almonds can actually help you reduce headaches. Almonds are rich in antioxidants, protein, fiber & all that good stuff.
7. Eat fruits.
Be kind to yourself and eat at least one fruit a day. Apart from being so darn delicious (I’m obsessed with fruits) fruits are packed with nutrients!
8. Don’t skip your meals.
Speaking of eating, do NOT skip breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Be mindful of what you eat, but never starve yourself. Replace unhealthy foods with healthy foods (here are some ideas.)
9. Take your vitamins.
INVEST in your health because health is wealth baby! Drink your vitamins! Yes, I’m talking about your hair & skin vitamins as well as Vitamins C, E, A, K, Carotomax, etc. I live for Shaklee’s vitamins.
10. Try oil pulling.
A little oil pulling every morning never hurt nobody.
Swish a tablespoon of oil in your mouth every morning to improve your oral hygiene. Oil pulling has many other great health benefits, too.
11. Practice skincare.
Take care of your face, because it is the only one you will get. Practice skin care! Aim to put on a face mask at least three times a week. You can buy face masks or make them on your own. (:
12. Get steps in.
Get off your couch + walk!!! Walk for at least 20 minutes a day. If you need some walking inspo, check out my walk 3 minutes every hour challenge!
13. Enjoy nature.
NATURE. SUNLIGHT. FRESH AIR.
Take a moment of your day to enjoy what nature has to offer. Even if it’s just a 5 minute walk in your backyard or a walk to your mailbox. Anything over nothing.

Have a 10 minute stretching session everyday. Stretching not only improves flexibility, but it calms your mind and protects your muscles from injuries.

Take a moment during the day to write down some of the things that you’re grateful for. Sometimes we forget how lucky we really are!
20. Acknowledge EVERYTHING that you do!
Make checklists to plan & cross off your daily tasks. You can either create a to-do list every morning and check off your tasks as you complete them or create an “accomplished” list every night of all the things that you did during the day.
21. Plan, plan, plan.
Use planners to help you stay organized, on track & ahead of the game! Buy yourself a cute planner or easily create one yourself HERE! Planners are seriously life-savers.

24. Feed your mind.
Learn something new. You can either learn a new language, practice a new hobby, research a topic you’re interested in (fitness, in my case), etc.
25. Get lost in books.
Read books, knowledgeable textbooks, scripture (my personal favorite!), blogs, etc!
26. Get rid of negativity.
Eliminate all that extra negativity from your life & replace it with something positive – Stop watching the news + start watching inspirational and motivational videos instead.
27. Use your time wisely.
Reduce your screen time to the amount that is absolutely necessary (work purposes)! Take ocassional breaks, social media detox from time to time and make the best of your “phone” time by using it more for work & growth purposes rather than entertainment purposes.
28. Schedule time for yourself.
Have some “me” time. Say yes to self-love! Treat yourself to a nice meal, a good face mask, a fun glam session, or a good book! Simply do what makes YOU happy, for YOU. (:
29. Smile more.
This is a hard but life-changing habit. Smile (even if you don’t feel like smiling!) Trick your mind into thinking that you’re happy. This ironically seems to work.
30. Build a relationship with God.
And the best and most important habit of all- cherish, treasure, and nurture your relationship with God. This is the most important relationship you will ever have – so make it work! Speak to God through prayer and listen to his words by reading scripture.
