Why should you eat almonds daily? Well, let me tell you! If you have been following me on Instagram, you may have noticed that every time I share dishes (my IG is filled with food pics – major foodie here) I always always always include raw almonds in my dishes. There’s a reason why I add almonds to most if not all of my dinner dishes and today I will be explaining why I do this. A LITTLE BACKGROUND STORY: HATING ALMONDS + HEADACHES

AVOIDING ALMONDS AT ALL COSTS

As ironic as it sounds, I have never been a fan of any kind of nuts. Especially not almonds.

Since their texture and flavor never sat well with me, I avoided eating almonds for the most part of my childhood and teen years.

I do regret this now, but it’s never too late to adapt healthy habits.

BEING PRONE TO HEADACHES

Growing up I was always prone to getting headaches.

I would get headaches about two to three times a week. And I would get headaches for the dumbest reasons ever!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t the only one who had horrible headaches at home. My sister and my dad also suffered from constant headaches. By the looks of it, headaches seem to run in our family. If there was one thing we had to have a home it was a bottle of Advil.

Now you’re probably wondering why our headaches are relevant to this post. But in just a little, you will understand.

ROAD TO DISCOVERING THE POWER OF ALMONDS 

Last year, my dad randomly started eating around twenty almonds daily. And after only a few weeks, he started noticing some promising changes. He started feeling healthier, more energetic, and guess what? He wasn’t getting as many headaches as he used to! As weeks went by, he was getting less headaches and I was still getting headaches. So, he told me one day to try eating almonds to see if it would work on me too. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant at first, but when I realized that I had nothing to lose, I decided to try eating almonds daily, too!

ADAPTING A NEW HEALTHY HABIT

Even though my dad would eat around twenty almonds a day, I decided to start with a smaller amount.

As I mentioned before, I have never been a fan of almonds so I wanted to start with a small amount that I can keep up with daily.

“Ten almonds a day keeps most headaches away.”

EATING 10 ALMONDS A DAY

So, I started eating ten almonds a day since July of 2018. I would eat ten almonds in the morning on an empty stomach or in the evening accompanied with fruits. I tried to eat them at the same times for the most part during the weekdays. On weekends, it was harder to have a designated time, so I would just make sure to eat them sometime during the day. I can’t remember the exact day that I started feeling a difference, but what I do remember is that just weeks after consuming ten almonds a day, my headaches started going away, too. 

BYE BYE HEADACHES + ADVILS

When the end of August 2018 came, I referred to my diary (I always record the amount of Advils I take monthly) and realized that I only took one Advil in August. Can you believe it? Just ONE! Since I was used to taking around 2 Advils weekly, this was a major improvement for me!

There is nothing better than natural home remedies. I am a huge fan of them.

I’ve been through a lot of health problems in the past and I’ve overcome them all thanks to God and to natural home remedies. So, I have a lot of faith in them. Now, I’m not saying that eating almonds is a definite headache cure or that it will work with everyone. All of our bodies work and respond differently, so what may work for me may not work for you. Therefore, I am simply sharing my personal experience with the hopes that it can help you, too. If you want to try adding this habit to your daily routine, I highly recommend it based on how well it has worked for me.
